Brief – Day 2
Day 2 – approximately 6.40km (challenging – hard)
Time on track – approximately 6 hours including breaks
Oh yes, it is hard to crawl out of a cosy tent into a frosty winter morning, but the adventure awaiting you today is definitely worth it.
Pack up camp and head into the hut for breakfast before departing for your next destination, Craig’s Hut.
You will head towards the summit of Mt Stirling along a trail with stunning views of the summit and of Mt Buller, before leaving the groomed cross country ski trails for a real backcountry adventure. You will travel amongst Snow Gums, up and down unmaintained trails that during this time of year are usually covered in deep untouched snow.
Upon arrival at Craig’s Hut, once you set up camp, you can explore this high country icon and its surrounds. This place is gorgeous any time of year and in any weather, but it’s absolutely magical when covered in a white blanket of snow.
