Brief – Day 2
Day 2 – approximately 6.1km (easy – moderate) Time on track – approximately 2 hours 30 minutes including breaks
There is no rush this morning. Enjoy your breakfast and pack up camp.
Today, you will take the low track with approximately twelve river crossings back to Eight Mile Flat. It’s a very different experience to the first day, but still as beautiful. This is where comfortable sandals are very important. You will need them to cross the river and ideally to continue wearing them between the river crossings to eliminate having to change back to your hiking boots for short sections.
If the weather is not suitable for the low track, you will return along the same track that you hiked on the day before. The gradient graph below is for the high track. The low track is mostly flat.
From Eight Mile Flat you will be transported back to Merrijig, arriving there around 1:00pm, just in time to treat yourself to a well deserved lunch.
Elevation at highest point: approx. 660m ASL
Total ascent: approx. 100m
Total descent: approx. 170m
