Brief – Day 2

Day 2 – 4.7km (challenging – hard)
Time on track – approximately 4 hours 30 minutes including stops and breaks

You would not want to sleep past sunrise. Do yourself a favour, grab your camera and jump out of your warm comfortable sleeping bag to see the sun rise over the mountains. Watch drops of condensation on the grass glisten in the morning sun and the soft morning light slowly spreading over Mt Buller.
After breakfast, it will be time to pack up and head towards our final destination.                                          Depart camp site at 9:00am 

Today’s track will take you up and down along a ridge over Eagle Peaks. The ascents and descents are not long, but some are steep and you need to watch your step as you will be mainly travelling over rocky terrain with sections of dense bush. However, this section of the walk is absolutely stunning with gorgeous views in many directions. It is also peacefully quiet and perfect to immerse yourself in your own thoughts.
Enjoy a nice break at the end of the ridgeline with more wonderful views and photo opportunities. This is where the track veers off to the left and down a steep exposed slope. After about 400m, the track levels out and continues through a beautiful forest gradually descending to Eight Mile Gap.
You can sit back, relax and enjoy your lunch at Eight Mile Gap before heading back to Merrijig.
The drive back to Merrijig is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and most of it is on an unsealed road.
