Brief – Day 2
Day 2 – approximately 11.5km (moderate – challenging)
Time on track – approximately 6 hours including breaks
It is well worthwhile to get up in time for sunrise to see the early morning rays lighting up Craig’s Hut and the mountain tops, while the valleys are covered in morning mist.
Craig’s Hut is stunning at any time of day and in any weather, so enjoy it while you can, as much as you can. The memories of this beautiful hut will stay with you forever.
After camp is packed and breakfast finished, you will retrace your steps back up to Mt Stirling, than descending to your final destination via another cross country ski trail, taking in a different part of Mt Stirling, stopping along the way at yet another high country hut for lunch.
You will arrive at your final destination at approximately 3:00pm.
From there, it’s about a 20 minute drive back to Merrijig.

Total ascent: approx. 1,070m
Total descent: approx. 1,180m
