Day 2 – 5.8km (challenging – hard)
Time on track – approximately 8 hours including stops and breaks

Today is another challenging, but exciting day.

After breakfast, you will pack up camp and set off at 8:00am. From your camp site, you will head straight up to The Crosscut Saw. This is an interesting section with couple of rock scrambles. It is challenging with the backpack on, but it is fun. Once you reach the ridge line, an amazing view to the East will open up before you. Here you will have a short break, which will give you the opportunity to enjoy the view and take some wonderful pics before setting off to cross The Crosscut Saw. The track over The Crosscut Saw runs along the East side of the mountain with couple of tricky, but not difficult section. Having good balance will help you enjoy this section even more.

The next stop is Mt Buggary, the perfect lunch spot. From here you will enjoy views in all directions.

After lunch you will head down a steep rocky section, than over a saddle and up to Mt Speculation. The track to Mt Speculation has some steeper sections and rock scrambles, but the reward reaching the top of Mt Speculation is well worth the effort. The views from here are just incredible. This is where you will be spending your second night. Don’t waste any time, quickly set up camp and organise your dinner, because once the sun starts setting, you will want to sit back, relax and enjoy one of Mother Nature’s shows. This place is remote and peaceful, the only way to access it, is on foot.

This day is full ascents and descents, some steep, some rocky, some tricky, but it really is an amazing day. It is full of rewarding views, fun and challenges.

Elevation at highest point: approx. 1700m ASL
Total ascent: approx. 700m
Total descent: approx. 380m
