Return to Timbertop Summit Loop details.

5.5km (moderate – challenging)
Time on track – approximately 2 hours 30 minutes including stops and breaks

Depart Merrijig at 8:30am for morning hikes and 1:30pm for afternoon hikes, from our meeting point at Merrijig Motor Inn car park (be at departure point 15 minutes prior).
Travel approximately 20 minutes mostly on an unsealed road.                                                                                After a short briefing session we will be ready to start our hiking adventure.

This hike takes you on a well maintained track with a steady gradient. The first half of the track is through a forest of tall Manna Gum trees before entering an open area with little vegetation. The forest if full of wildlife, which you will hear more than see in the dense bush. The track continues to wind its way up through an open area where the view of the mountains to the South, and valleys to the West, will open up as you gain elevation. During the warmer months, pretty wild flowers are scattered all around adding colour to the landscape. You will be glad that you brought along your camera.                                                                              A steeper section of the track will be your next challenge with a rock scramble that will pop you up on top of the summit. Settle down under a tree for a snack and enjoy the landscape that surrounds you.                        After a short rest, we will loop around the summit before retracing our steps back to where we started from.

Finally, you will be transported back to Merrijig along the same route as you arrived on.                                      Morning tours should return to Merrijig around 12:30pm and afternoon tours should return around 5:30pm.

Elevation at highest point: approx. 1300m ASL
