Get ready and start walking at 10:00am.
This walk starts at the Mt Timbertop carpark on Howqua Track. It’s a well maintained track with a steady gradient. The first half of the track winds its way through a forest of tall Manna Gum trees before entering an open area with little vegetation. The forest if full of wildlife, which you will hear more than see in the dense bush. The track continues to wind its way up through the open area where the view of the mountains to the South and valleys to the West will open up as you gain elevation. This is where you will be glad you brought along your camera. After a leisurely walk and some photo stops you will reach the final section, a short rock scramble to the summit. Mt Timbertop’s summit is very pretty with trees creating shady areas to rest under and plenty of room to spread out to enjoy your lunch and the landscape that surrounds you.
After a nice rest, you will retrace your steps back down to the carpark. This walk also offers many pretty wild flowers that add bright colours to the landscape.
Your transport vehicle will be waiting in the carpark and will take you back to Merrijig along the
same route as you arrived on.
