Time on track – approximately 7 hours including stops and breaks

Travel approximately 45 minutes to Davon’s Flat in the Howqua Hills Historic Area. Most of the drive is on an unsealed road.
Get ready to start walking at 9:30am.
Day 1 will see you heading uphill along a lovely walking track. This track starts off with a steep section that stretches over approximately 1.5km, but then eases off a little to a more manageable gradient. Luckily, the surrounding beautiful bushland with Manna Gum trees and the occasional view will take your mind off the hard work and in no time at all, you will be settling down on a log or in soft grass for lunch.
After lunch you will continue to head uphill towards your final destination for the day tackling a couple of more short steep sections along the way. Watch the vegetation change from tall trees to lower dense bushes as you gain elevation. Your camp site will appear suddenly on a ridge with very little vegetation and amazing views of the surrounding hills. The view stretches across valleys and over mountains and to the West you can spot sections of Lake Eildon, so make sure you bring your camera to catch the uninterrupted views. After dinner, settle down with a cup of tea or hot chocolate and a biscuit or two to watch one of Victoria’s amazing sunsets and we guarantee you won’t be able to stop your camera from clicking. You will find that even after the sun disappears below the horizon, you will be glancing in that direction to see if you can still catch a glimpse of it.
Elevation at highest point: approx. 1320m ASL
Total ascent: approx. 935m
Total descent: approx. 90m
