Get ready to start walking at 9:30am.
Day 1 will see you heading uphill along a lovely walking track. This track starts off with a steep section that stretches over approximately 1.5km, but then eases off to a more manageable gradient. The surrounding beautiful bushland with Manna Gum trees and the occasional view will take your mind off the hard work and in no time at all, you will be looking around for a nice log or a patch of soft grass to settle down on for lunch.
After lunch you will continue to head uphill towards your final destination for the day, tackling a couple of more short steep sections along the way. Watch the vegetation change from tall trees to lower dense bushes as you gain elevation. Your camp site will appear suddenly on a ridge with very little vegetation and amazing views of the surrounding hills. The view stretches across valleys and over mountains. To the West you can spot sections of Lake Eildon glistening in the sun. Make sure you bring your camera to catch the uninterrupted views. After dinner, settle down with a cup of tea or hot chocolate and a biscuit or two to watch one of Victoria’s amazing sunsets. We guarantee you won’t be able to stop your camera from clicking. After the sun disappears below the horizon, you will still be glancing in that direction to see if you can catch a glimpse of it.
Elevation at highest point: approx. 1320m ASL
